Indite Copilot
Indite Copilot is an AI assistant built into the workflow editor. Instead of dragging blocks yourself, you describe what you want in plain language — Copilot plans the work, adds the blocks, wires them together, and fills in their settings.
"Create a workflow that sends a Slack message when a webhook is triggered."
"Build a daily report that emails stats every morning at 8 AM."
Open Copilot
- Open any workflow (Workflows → your workflow → Edit).
- Click the round AI Assistant button floating in the bottom-right corner of the canvas.
- The Indite Copilot panel opens on the right.
Copilot only works on unpublished workflows. If the workflow is published you'll see "Unpublish workflow to use copilot" — click Unpublish in the header first. Copilot is also not available on rented (Agent Store) workflows.
Chat sessions
Copilot keeps separate chat sessions per workflow, listed in the left rail of the panel:
- Click Create New Session, give it a name, and start chatting.
- Hover a session to rename or delete it.
- The session you're using shows an Active badge, and its full history is saved.
What a conversation looks like
Ask for what you want
Type into "Ask me anything about your workflow…" and send. You can ask Copilot to build something new, change existing blocks, or just explain things ("what blocks are available?", "what does this Condition block do?").
Sometimes, answer one quick question
If your request is clear, Copilot builds it straight away. It only asks when something essential is genuinely missing — for example "build a workflow for daily updates" (updates about what, from where?) or "I want a support bot" (what should it know, and on which channel?). It asks once, with clickable answer chips, and then builds using your answer plus sensible defaults for anything else. Things like the AI model, a schedule time, or a sheet or channel name are never blocking: Copilot picks a reasonable default and tells you, and you can change them in the block settings.
Questions about the workflow ("what does this workflow do?") and edits to it ("rename this block", "change the schedule to hourly") run straight away. The one thing Copilot always confirms first is anything that removes or replaces work you already built.
Watch the plan
After you confirm, Copilot shows the Agent's Plan — a step list at the top of the chat that ticks off as each step completes. You can stop generation at any time with the Stop button.
Review the result
Blocks appear on the canvas as Copilot works. After each change you get a version card ("N blocks, M edges") — click an older card to restore that version. Suggested follow-up replies appear as clickable chips.
Copilot's work is saved even if you close the panel or leave the page mid-generation, and blocks you add by hand while it's working are kept.
What Copilot can do
- Understand your workflow — it reads the current blocks, connections, and even your last execution results.
- Answer catalogue questions — "list all triggers", "which databases are supported?", "show me what the Gmail block can do".
- Add and connect blocks — one at a time or whole flows in a single request.
- Configure block settings — schedules, prompts, recipients, conditions, and more.
- Remove or rewire blocks on request.
- Ask only when it must — if something essential is missing it asks one quick question; otherwise it builds from your words and fills small gaps with sensible defaults it tells you about.
- Speak your language — it replies in whatever language you write in.
What it won't do: connect your credentials for you (add those in the block settings or the Integrations page), or publish/activate the workflow — those stay under your control.
Always review before publishing. Copilot's output is a suggestion. Check block settings — especially credentials, recipients, and schedules — before you publish the workflow.
Message limits
The panel header shows your remaining Copilot messages ("N messages left" or "Unlimited messages"). The allowance depends on your plan and is counted against the workspace owner. When you run out:
- Top up — Account Settings → Billing & Usage → the Copilot Chat bar → Top Up. Topped-up messages never expire.
- Or upgrade your plan for a larger monthly allowance.
