Dropbox Sign
The Dropbox Sign block (formerly HelloSign) sends documents for e-signature and tracks them from your workflow — send a signature request, check its status, and download the signed file when everyone has signed.
Signature Automation: Trigger a signature request the moment a deal closes, then poll its status or fetch the signed PDF once it is complete — no manual sending needed.
Key Features
- Send for Signature: Send any document URL to a signer with a subject and message
- Status Tracking: Fetch a single request or list requests, with an optional status filter
- Cancel Requests: Cancel an incomplete signature request
- Download Signed Files: Get a temporary download URL for the signed document
- Response Mapping: Save request IDs, signer URLs, statuses, and file URLs into workflow variables
- Test Mode: A credential toggle lets you test without using paid signature requests

| Cancel Signature Request | Cancels an incomplete request by ID |
| Download Signed Document | Returns a temporary URL to download the signed file |

Setting up the credential
- Sign in to Dropbox Sign (opens in a new tab) and open Settings → API to create an API key.
- In the block settings, click to connect a new Dropbox Sign account.
- Enter a Connection Name and paste your API Key.
- Optionally enable Test Mode to send non-legally-binding test requests that do not consume your quota.
- Save the credential and select it in the block.
Example: contract signing flow
- A Generate Document block creates the contract PDF and outputs its URL.
- A Dropbox Sign block with Send Signature Request sends it to
{{client_email}}, saving Signature Request ID to a variable. - Later (for example on a schedule), Get Signature Request checks Is Complete — when true, Download Signed Document fetches the File URL and an email block sends it to your legal team.
Output
Use Response mapping to extract values into variables:
| Value | Available for | Description |
|---|---|---|
Signature Request ID | Send | The new request's ID — keep it for later operations |
Title / Status | Send, Get | Request title and current status |
Signer URL | Send | The signing URL for the signer |
Is Complete | Get | true once all signers have signed |
Requester Email | Get | Who sent the request |
Requests / Total Count | List | The list of requests and how many matched |
Success | Cancel | Whether the cancellation succeeded |
File URL / Expires At | Download | Temporary download link for the signed file and its expiry |
Full Data | All | The complete raw API response |
⚠️
The File URL from Download Signed Document is temporary — download or forward the file promptly, before the link expires.
