Open Claw
The Open Claw block dispatches a task to an OpenClaw (opens in a new tab) agent — an AI agent that can execute tasks autonomously. Your workflow sends the task, waits for the agent to finish, and continues with the agent's answer.
Two-Way Integration: This block sends a task to OpenClaw. To let OpenClaw start one of your workflows, use the OpenClaw trigger.
⚠️
Open Claw is not available on the Free plan. Upgrade your workspace plan to use this block.
Key Features
- Single Dispatch Action: One block, one job — send a task and get the agent's response back
- Model Selection: Defaults to
openclaw:main; change it to target another model on your gateway - Variable Support: The task input accepts
{{variable}}values from earlier blocks - Self-Hosted Friendly: Point the credential at any OpenClaw gateway URL, including a local one
- Long-Running Tasks: The block waits up to 10 minutes for the agent to answer
Configuration
| Parameter | Type | Required | Description |
|---|---|---|---|
| OpenClaw Credentials | Credential | Yes | The gateway connection to use |
| Model | Text | No | The agent model to run. Defaults to openclaw:main |
| Task Input | Text | Yes | The task you want the agent to perform. Supports variables |
Under the hood, the block sends { model, input } to your gateway's /v1/responses endpoint with your gateway token.
Setting up the credential
- In the block settings, select Connect new in the credentials dropdown.
- Enter a Name for the connection (e.g. "My OpenClaw account").
- Enter the Base URL of your OpenClaw gateway, e.g.
http://127.0.0.1:18789for a local instance or your hosted gateway URL. - Enter your Gateway Token — the authentication token configured on your OpenClaw gateway.
- Save. The Model and Task Input fields appear once a credential is selected.
Example: research assistant
- A Webhook Trigger receives a company name from your CRM.
- An Open Claw block sends the task:
Research the company {{company_name}} and summarize its latest news in 5 bullet points. - A Slack block posts the agent's response to your sales channel.
Output
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
response | The agent's answer text |
fullResponse | The complete raw response from the gateway |
model | The model that handled the task |
Downstream blocks can reference these fields to use the agent's answer.
