Google Contacts
The Google Contacts block lets a workflow create and search contacts in a connected Google account using the Google People API. Contacts created here sync automatically to every device signed in with that Google account — useful when a whole team shares one account for caller ID.
Prerequisites
- The People API must be enabled for your Google Cloud project (the same project that provides
GOOGLE_CLIENT_ID/GOOGLE_CLIENT_SECRET). - Connect a Google account from the block settings ("Continue with Google"). The consent screen requests the
contactsscope.
Actions
Create Contact
Creates a new contact. Fields (all support {{variables}}):
| Field | Notes |
|---|---|
| First name | Required if no phone number |
| Last name | Optional |
| Phone number | Required if no first name |
| Optional | |
| Company | Saved as the contact's organization |
| Job title | Optional |
| Notes | Saved to the contact's notes |
| Skip if phone number already exists | On by default — searches first and skips creation when a contact with the same phone number exists |
Output (referenced as {{blockId.field}}):
{
"skipped": false,
"contact": { "resourceName": "people/c123...", "names": [...], "phoneNumbers": [...] }
}Search Contacts
Searches contacts by name, phone number, or email.
Output:
{
"count": 2,
"results": [{ "person": { "resourceName": "...", "names": [...] } }]
}Example
After a WhatsApp onboarding flow completes, add a Google Contacts block with:
- First name:
{{jsonParser.full_name}} - Last name:
| {{jsonParser.company_name}} | MyApp - Phone number:
+{{whatsAppTrigger.from}}
so every teammate's phone shows who is calling.
